Here's MaryAnn's story...

Growing up on a ranch, I learned the value of family, integrity, and quality leather gear.  I learned to appreciate leather goods that are not only functional but are also beautiful pieces of art showcasing the artisan’s talents.  When I was young, I crafted leather for several 4-H County Fair projects.  I learned to enjoy leather crafting early on and knew I wanted to become skilled at leatherwork.

Leather working involves cultural traditions and techniques that must be passed from one artisan to another.  Now, after college, marriage, children, and owning my own cattle, I shared my passion for leather working with my husband.  For our second anniversary, my husband gifted me a starter set of leather working tools.  A few months later, I attended a weekend carving course.  And from that point forward, I was hooked.  I’ve loved every minute of learning about leather crafting.  My enthusiasm evolved into the start of a successful business named using our cattle brand, rockin’ MC.

In January 2022, I attended a three day drawing and carving course with Cory Seaman from Broadus, Montana.  I thoroughly enjoyed his course and couldn’t wait to expand my skills from there.  I had a very successful spring and summer practicing my carving skills on custom orders, but wanted to do more.

In November 2022, I studied under Oklahoma State University’s former leather instructor Mike DeWitt in Henryetta, Oklahoma and learned how to build saddles and boots.  Due to this exposure and continuous self-study, over the last four years, Rockin’ MC Leather has found success.  As I continue to grow and learn, my never-ending goal is to provide high quality, custom, handcrafted saddles, boots, and specialty projects.

Rockin’ MC Leather recently relocated to the cowboy town of Miles City, Montana which has opened new doors of opportunity.  Owning and operating Rockin’ MC Leather allows me to be a committed stay-at-home mother to our two wonderful children as I earn an income from the leather shop located in our home.  This has been a fulfilling dream of mine.  I hope you enjoy each piece that I have crafted with careful attention to both functionality and beauty as much as I have enjoyed making them.
